When you make the decision to adopt, the process may seem overwhelming. At Adopt-A-Child we recognize this and have created a program which simplifies the steps as we guide you through every stage of the adoption.

We believe that the following features distinguish Adopt-A-Child from other agencies and enable us to serve you in the best possible way:

We have established very positive relationships with the government organizations involved in the adoption process overseas. We do not use third parties in our program. We and our representative office in Russia work directly with the necessary government agencies.

If a family requests a specific medical evaluation about a child, we are able to arrange this in most cases.

Our Executive Director and Coordinators are in daily contact with officials within the Russian government. We are aware of all current and impending adoption regulations.

Adopt-A-Child employs a full-time staff of coordinators and translators in Russia who are highly experienced, having been trained and supervised by our Executive Director. Our English speaking staff meets you at the airport and accompanies you throughout all adoption procedures during your stay abroad.

Our Pittsburgh office consists of directors, administrators and licensed social workers. Our staff works directly with families in gathering documents required for the adoption.

We assist in coordinating travel and lodging arrangements. Families do not carry large sums of money while abroad and are asked only to bring several small gifts to their child's caregiver.

Adopt-A-Child Directors conduct orientation meetings to prepare families for their travel abroad.

Our focus during and after the adoption is on social service and personal attention. Our Clinical Director and social workers work closely with all families.

We offer monthly pre-adoption groups in our Pittsburgh office to prepare our families to adopt.

Prospective parents participate in a 10 week Parent Education Course designed specifically for Adopt-A-Child families.

Bi-monthly seminars are offered to our families after the adoption is completed to assist parents with topics specific to adoption and parenting.

A quarterly newsletter is designed to inform families of Agency activities, parenting issues and the status of international adoption.

No Adopt-A-Child family has ever traveled abroad to adopt without being able to complete the adoption.

One third of Adopt-A-Child families have returned to complete second and third adoptions with us.
